Easy To Set Up Smart Home Devices

OpinionsEasy To Set Up Smart Home Devices

When people think of smart home devices, often their mind wanders off to fancy state of the art technology. Like a huge LCD TV coming out of the floor kind of stuff, but there are several categories of smart home devices, from lights to cameras, to sprinklers and even door locks.

If you want to turn your house into a smart home, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you need heavy repairs with expensive tech – you can always begin with the smaller things. And why not, because not everyone is comfortable with a fully automated household.

If you are worried about installation, you should know that you can easily set up most of these smart home devices yourself, only a few require professional assistance.

Here are some smart devices that are easy to set up without requiring any additional help. You can begin your smart home journey with these:

 Google Nest Cam

Nest Indoor Cam is one of the best smart cameras you could install in your home. It connects to Wi-Fi and allows you to view live, HD video footage straight from your smartphone and tablet. It even features night vision as well as motion and sound detection, which sends an alert to your phone if it detects anything. This camera features a two-way audio too, which allows you at both ends to converse because of the built-in mic and speaker.

As for setting up the Nest Cam, it’s quick and easy. All you need to do is plug in the camera to an outlet, and download the Nest app to connect the camera and set it up. It does not require an additional hub, even if there’s more than one camera.

Philips Hue Smart Bulb

Philips Hue Smart bulbs are available in different categories, ranging from soft white lights to warm lights. Some bulbs are of one specific color, while others offer about 16 million colors in one bulb alone. Sounds crazy right? But it’s true.

What’s even better is that you don’t need to worry about setting up these light bulbs; you can simple connect them via Bluetooth, and then control them with voice control. To unlock more features, you can add a Hue Bridge and can connect more lights around the house. It can only control 10 light bulbs via Bluetooth.

Google Nest Hub Max Smart Display

It is the perfect device for a busy family. If your kids come home before you, meanwhile you’re stuck at work till 5p.m. every day, the Google Nest Hub Max is a great addition for your home as it allows you to touch base with every member of the household.

Nest Hub Max is a 10-inch screen with HD display and a built-in camera, microphone and features the Google Assistant. It works just like any other Voice Assistant and can carry out tasks like making phone calls, sending texts, and checking traffic on your daily route. The built-in camera also allows you to keep an eye on your home while you’re away, and sends alerts if it detects any motion. Nest Hub Max is even compatible with other smart devices around the house, like smart lights and smart TVs for instance. Plus, it also lets everybody set reminders and mark calendars with their schedules and plans.

Setting up the device is quite easy; you just have to plug it into an outlet and then continue the setup through the Google Home or Nest app.

It is time to upgrade!

There are many smart home devices that you cannot set up yourself. Devices like smart plugs, smart door locks, smart garage doors or even smart thermostats usually require professional technicians because there is wiring involved inside the wall. Unless you have a degree in Electrical Engineering, we would recommend you don’t try anything yourself for your own safety.
