Operating System Windows 7 – Video Projector Connection
In previous versions of Microsoft Windows, it was never so easy to use the external projector with your laptop, since almost all laptops come preloaded with some different set of viewing services, and each laptop has a different function key combination to allow the output of a projector.
Press Win + P hotkeys
Now, choose the option you want to use,
Show desktop only on PC, you can use only by computer.
Duplicate (Duplicate Desktop in the projector).
Extend (Extend desktop to the projector).
Single Projector (Show desktop only on the projector).
Show desktop only on the projector turns off the current screen and shows the desktop only on the projector. The Projector Settings window closes and the new settings are applied immediately.

You can also go to the control panel, under appearance and customization, click on adjust screen resolution.
Click on Projector to a second screen :
PC only screen: This disables the projector and allows the information that has been seen only on the PC monitor.
Duplicate: Everything you do on the monitor will be reflected on the projected screen.
Extend: The projector acts as an extended desktop, allowing you to move the windows of the PC screen to it and vice versa.
Only Second screen: This disables the monitor of your PC and allows the screen to only appear on the projected screen.
Note that these options only work when connected to a projector. “These have no function when connected to an external monitor.”
Operating System Windows 10 – Video Projector Connection
In the Windows search box, search and open Settings screen and then advanced settings.
Click on the drop-down menu under Multiple screens, select one of the configurations, and click Apply.
Multiple screens, drop-down list tells Windows how your desktop should be displayed on the second monitor. You have these options, each one by hand for different scenarios:
Duplicate These Sample: This duplicates your desktop on both screens, which is useful when you want to project an image of your desktop onto a wall or screen for presentations.
Expand these screens: This stretches Windows to place them on both screens, which gives you an extra wide desktop.
Show only PC screen: Select this one before you are ready to show your presentation. Then change to duplicate these screens.
Show only 2 screens: Select this option to show only the second screen, which is useful when connecting a tablet to a TV to watch movies in a dark room.
Operating System Ubuntu (linux) – Video Projector Connection
Try to adjust the settings with the menu and not with the hotkey.

In the “System Configuration” menu, there is a monitor icon that reads Monitors(Displays), open that menu.
Change the display settings.
The projector is like a second screen. You should see a “built-on-screen” for your laptop and a second screen for the projector.
Click on it and change it to “On”, you can change the settings if you want to have the two screens running, then they will behave as if it were a large screen. That means you have to move the window of the presentation of the image of the projector, or you can simply reflect them and it will show the same subject.
You can also turn your internal screen “off” and just use the projector.
Operating System OS (Mac) – Video Projector Connection
- Turn on your Mac.
- Plug the projector into an electrical outlet and turn it on.
- Connect the video cable (VGA or HDMI usually) from the projector to the Mac. In order to do this, you most likely need a Mac adapter cable. ( Note: There are at least five different Mac adapter cables, which will vary depending on the video inputs of your PC.)
- Once the Mac and the projector are connected, click on the Apple menu in the upper corner left of the screen.
- Select System Preferences in the drop-down menu.
- Select the Displays icon (Screens).
- When the sample window appears, click on the Detect screens button. At this point, the Mac and the projector must be synchronized.
When the Screens window appears, select the Tab Fix in the menu bar, check the Sample Mirror box, in the lower left corner of the window. ( Note: After checking this box, please wait a few seconds. Once the screens are reflected, you should see the same image on the projector and the computer. )
