Namitha Pramod is an Indian actress who mostly features in Malayalam films. Her Malayalam cinema debut was in “Traffic.” She went on to star in blockbuster films, including as:  Puthiya Theerangal in 2012, Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttiyum and Sound thoma in 2013, Villali Veeran and  Vikramadithyan in 2014, Chandrettan Evideya, Amar Akbar Anthony and Adi Kapyare Kootamani in 2015, Role Models 2014 and Al Mallu (2020).

Namitha Pramod Biography

Early Life and Education

Namitha Pramod was born in Kottayam, Kerala. She is the daughter of a businessman; her father’s name is Pramod, and her mother, Indu Pramod, is a housewife. Akhita Pramod is her younger sister. In Thiruvananthapuram, she attended Carmel Girls Higher Secondary School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from St. Teresa’s College in Kochi. She has declared that she would not let her acting career affect her studies.

Career

When Namitha was in seventh grade, she started appearing in films like Amme Devi, Vellankanni Mathavu, and Ente Manasa Puthri. She made her feature film debut in Traffic, directed by Rajesh Pillai. Her second film, Puthiya Theerangal, had her in her first main role as a fisherwoman alongside Nivin Pauly. More lead roles followed, including Sound Thoma with Dileep and Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttiyum with Kunchacko Boban, in which she played a Mohiniyattam dancer.

She was not trained in Mohiniyattam and studied the dance moves for four days at Saranya Mohan’s dance academy in Alappuzha. Both films were successful, and she was named Malayalam’s Top Star (Female) in 2013. In 2014, she appeared in En Kadhal Pudhithu, her debut Tamil film directed by Maaris Kumar, which had a postponed release, followed by Lijin Jose’s Law Point, in which she played Maya, a trendy, city-bred girl.   She played Deepika, a Konkani girl, in Lal Jose’s Vikramadithyan, which required her to say a few lines in Konkani, a language she had never used before. Her next film, Villali Veeran, in which she reunited with Dileep, cast her as an ad filmmaker.   Her most recent film was Ormayundo Ee Mukham, a love drama in which she performed with Vineeth Sreenivasan. Her debut release in 2015 was Chandrettan Evideya, in which she played Dr. Geethanjali with Dileep and Anusree. Her performance was widely acclaimed, winning her first Filmfare Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

She has appeared in several ads for brands such as Bhima Jewellers, Francis Alukkas, and Ripple Tea. She appeared on Asianet’s reality show Ningalkkum Aakaam Kodeeshwaran.
