Top 5 Music Festivals in the USA

Top StoriesTop 5 Music Festivals in the USA

If you ask many music lovers which is their favorite season time, their answer is summer.

Why?

Because it’s the time when most and the best music festivals are happening!

Going to live concerts and theater performances is exciting, but music festivals are a level-up event since you have everything in one place. You get the chance to see many A-listers for a cheap ticket price, be part of other daily activities, meet people from different cultures, etc.

However, before you buy your tickets for events like music festivals to raise your spirit, let’s see which are the top five USA festivals you should attend at least once in your lifetime.

1. Lollapalooza – Chicago

Lollapalooza began its incredible musical journey back in 1991, believe it or not, as part of Jane’s Addiction farewell tour.

Therefore, it began as a ‘’sad’’ way to say goodbye to an excellent band, but ultimately it became one of the happiest and best music festivals in the USA and all across the globe. This music festival has been happening in Chicago since 2005, and thousands of music fans come together to have fun and enjoy performances by top-rated musicians.

Some of the fantastic musicians that have been rocking the Lollapalooza stages involve performers such as Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Daft Punk, Lady Gaga, and many more.

2. Pitchfork Music Festival – Chicago

Also happening in Chicago, the Pitchfork Music Festival is primarily a chance to become a musician that many people will see perform. That’s why Pitchfork is excellent for up-and-coming artists since it allows the best talents of various music scenes to prove how fantastic they are or can become.

This music festival began its journey in 2006, and today it has around 60,000 people coming every year. It also has a comedy stage, while music-wise, it mainly addresses experimental, alternative, indie, and hip-hop performers.

Some of the most famous musicians participating in this festival before they became highly famous are Grimes, Kendrick Lamar, and St. Vincent, among many others.

3. Coachella – Indio

Coachella is a USA music festival in Indio, California, and it’s a deserted-based music festival with a massive variety of music styles. The most significant advantage of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is that you can enjoy genres such as pop, electronic dance music, rock, hip-hop, or anything else.

Coachella’s first beginning dates back to 1999; even though it was canceled in 2000, it continued in 2001. Of course, it was canceled twice more because of the pandemic, but now it’s back with full power. It’s not so cheap since it’s one of the biggest music festivals in the world, but tickets still sell out fast since thousands of people love this festival.

The 2022 edition had Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Swedish House Mafia, and The Weeknd as headliners, although over the years, millions of music fans had the chance to see bands like Coldplay, AC/DC, Gorillaz, Muse, The Cure, and many more.

4. Austin City Limits Music Festival – Austin

Fourth on the list, but equally entertaining, is the Austin City Limits Music Festival, of course, in Austin.

This music festival is a two-weekend-long festival that usually has almost 500,000 visitors every year. The advantage of Austin City Limits Music Festival over the other festivals is that it has various other activities aside from the main one, which is music. For instance, Austin Eats and Art Market are part of the festival and provide people with a much better experience than just going from one stage to another.

To see how excellent it is, it’s enough to see some of the previous headliners like the Foo Fighters, Guns N’ Roses, the legendary Paul McCartney, and many other top-rated musicians. It may be a subjective view, but it’s fair to say that Austin City Limits Music Festival is maybe the best one on the list.

5. New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival – New Orleans

Lastly, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is a celebration of jazz and rock music, and it’s the best one of this kind. It still holds on to its roots as much as possible, and it’s an annual event that means more than anything to the residents of New Orleans, especially those who adore music.

It started in 1970, so it has hosted many more musicians than all the other four music festivals above. This music festival is a fantastic cultural event where you can see legendary musicians, discover talented instrument players, witness special jam sessions, and so on.

The 2022 edition speaks for itself since music lovers could see Willie Nelson, Erykah Badu, Lionel Richie, Foo Fighters, and The Who, among many other super-talented musicians.

To achieve the ultimate music festival experience, it’s best to attend all five festivals at least once. If you can’t, it’s enough to visit one of these, and you’ll create some of the best memories of your life!
