Top Free Players for the Next Season

SportsTop Free Players for the Next Season

If Covid taught us anything, is that there are a lot of great clubs that are quite economically fragile. Barcelona’s walk through the desert is a perfect example of how even the mammoths can eventually fall, fail and obliged to readapt. Meanwhile, with most wages going down, players are nonetheless keen of progressing their careers and get play time, experience new clubs and cultures, and make a name for themselves where they can shine the brightest.

Mbappe is a no-brainer in this discussion, also if you have a look on the odds of the best online bookmakers. He more than anyone understands that, although PSG went all-in for the Champions League, he is simply not the sole star of the rooster. Two options appear in his front: the option of staying in what some people ill-intendedly call a farmer’s league, until the main men retire and he is the head of the club, or seek greener pastures, specifically in a club that always has the eyes set on European silverware. So it’s best to start with the man of the hour, and roll along as we delve into the potentially free players in the next market.

1 – Mbappe: Set for Real Madrid?

The speedy Gonzalez, the wing daredevil, a young man that already has a World Cup to brag about, has been looking keenly on a move, rejecting ungodly amounts of money that the Qatar sponsored club was willing to offer him, perhaps to follow the path of his hero CR7 and make himself a legend in arguably the greatest club: Real Madrid.

Considering that PSG and Madrid are facing each other at the Champions’ League, we should expect no further advancements, at least until that game, but it appears somewhat certain that Mbappe will be a Merengue next season.

2 – Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba seems to be, in the Red Devils, the right man in the wrong time. If we associate the poor form of Manchester United with the desire from Juventus to have Pogba, it seems pretty straightforward that he won’t be signing any contract with Manchester United. Juventus, though, is obviously not his only option, so we can expect good and entertaining novels next summer, with Pogba in the main role.

3 – Ousmane Dembelé

The keen observer is wondering: is every free player french? Well, so far… Dembele is a risky endeavor for any team, considering his work ethic, or lack of it, and his injury record, but his talent is undeniable. So much so that he will probably start in the main XI at Barcelona despite not signing. At his best, he can offer a lot virtually any team in the world.

4 – Antonio Rudiger

Antonio Rudiger is a mean, lean swiping machine. His on the top of his game, and has still at the very least 5 years in prime form, if injuries don’t stop him (and his record is pretty good). If he stays at Chelsea or not is still a bit unclear, but PSG already initiated contacts. He’s, as from now, a free man to sign for a new team, and get a hefty signature price; therefore, either Chelsea pulls big money or Rudiger will go destroy attacking endeavors somewhere else than London.

5 – Paulo Dybala

Shunned for way too much time at Juventus, despite his visible and undeniable quality, Dybala just saw Vlahovic arrive. Time will only tell, but if we were to guess, Dybala is probably thinking: does Vlahovic complement me, or is there other club where I can thrive? The ball is in this hand.

Honorable Mentions:

Onana wants to leave Ajax, and is a great goalkeeper. Then we have Insigne, Mertens, Kessie, Brozovic, just to name a few. In these cases, it looks like it can go either way, though, as they negotiate with their current clubs. But it’s quite the ride to imagine so much changes in the top European squads. The next market promises to be a hell of a ride.
